Now What About Your Time?

Dr. Mark Cambron often said, "Time is an island in the sea of God 's eternity. It begins with man and ends with man." This is so simple, yet profound. Time is only human. It was designed for humankind to use. How we use our time will be a reflection on what we think about what we value most in life.

There are five major areas where we should spend most of our time — with your (1) faith, (2) family, (3) work, (4) others and (5) self.  We need to be wise time-managers of each of these areas. Abusing these areas will violate the universal plan for our lives.  We were created with purpose.  We were given the element of time to live by faith, so we must take a serious look at what we do with our time!

The way you spend your time as a wise steward is most important. Spending time with our families is especially vital. An ancient proverbs say, "If you don't provide (time) for your own, you're less than an infidel." Work is one of those necessary time requirements. "You don't work, you don't eat." Making time for others in our community and throughout the world is also necessary. And finally, we need to save time for ourselves. This doesn't mean that you only give yourself whatever time is leftover. We should balance our time in all five areas.

The following are practical insights that will help all DISC personality types improve their use of time. The biggest challenge is that time doesn't stand still and we can never get it back. We must use our time wisely.

"D" Types and Time For:

Faith: Be DEDICATED to your faith! Set aside a specific time each day to strengthen your faith.

Family: Be DECISIVE and don't get distracted with other "important" things to do.

Work: Be DILIGENT and work hard. You may be the closest influence others will ever see.

Others: Be DETERMINED to help others by giving them your time and assistance.

Self: Be DEMANDING of yourself and don't let your feelings influence you to take time ......
